wednesday

i like the word wednesday. i like the way it sounds. i like the muted middle syllable. and hey, today's wednesday.

so i'm up to 11,209 words and stuck again. shannon's been interviewed by the police and she interviewed helen. i'm afraid the helen scene does sound more like an interview than a conversation, and that's not so good. that scene will need serious tweaking, but not yet. i have to keep moving forward, though i don't yet know what's next.

shannon and helen talked about seeing dallas where she works, at the strip club. though i was thinking i wasn't ready to write that scene, maybe i should go ahead and write it. i was thinking something had to come before, for the benefit of pacing, but maybe i'm wrong. pacing is something i struggle with.

yeah, and speaking of pacing, i'm debating doing nanowrimo (50,000 words in the 30 days that constitute november) again this year. i did it last year and that's when i wrote the first draft of this thing i'm rewriting now. i like the idea of doing it, so i'll probably do it. it was fun. but i'm not going to start a whole new story. what i'll probably do is just keep writing this current thing, but at a more breakneck pace. and then in december just continue on.

can anyone believe it's the end of august already? i'm getting whiplash.

i'm definitely going to need a new chair. i'm sitting in this $40 chair for 9 and 10 hours a day and it's not pleasant. my body hurts. i'm not young any more. friday i'm going to go look at chairs.

last evening kara and i tried pizza hut's new sensation, the lasagna pizza. i do not recommend it.
