cleaner

well, the maids came this afternoon. i worked at home today and they came a little bit after 12:30, nearly half an hour early! they were 2 girls in their 20s, in jeans and matching light blue tee shirts. i suppose i was a bit surprised at how young they were. and one of them was showing a nearly obscene amount of buttcrack. (does this beg the questions: is any amount not obscene? and, if not, just how much would be too much? for myself, i didn't mind the view at all.) they were here for about 2 hours. it was a little weird for me, having girls i didn't know cleaning my house. it's kind of an awkward thing. i was upstairs working, typing away; they didn't clean upstairs. they cleaned the front room (which includes the living room and the dining room, i suppose, though it's all one room really), the kitchen, and the bathroom. yeah, it was strange, hearing them making cleaning sorts of noises down there, doing what they do. they didn't talk much. they were very polite to me. and they did good work. i was impressed. the house looks surprisingly good.

anyone want to come over? right now? while the house looks okay?

there's a bit of money yet on the gift card kara got me, so we'll schedule one more cleaning by this group. after that, though, we're thinking of partaking of the services of a coworker of kara's in the legal office - it's either her housecleaning business or her friend's housecleaning business - she works more cheaply and it's good to use local businesses, right?

meanwhile kara's taken dagmar to the vet, because he's been coughing and spitting up for the last 36 hours or so. it might be kennel cough, but we don't know yet. steve is just starting to cough too, so this could be a bit of a pain for us. we'll see.
