stuffing

a friend of kara's from work is here and she brought her dog to play with our dogs for a short while, so i have excused myself. dagmar and steve got on my nerves a bit today i must admit. the cats, too, were a bit troublesome, wanting my attention and sitting between me and the computer screen while i was trying to work. sheesh.

it's thanksgiving tomorrow here in the states. it'll be just me and kara, as per usual for holidays. we're eating chicken, corn, peas, and stuffing. we have wine and dessert. the weather should be cold, and we're looking forward to a fire in our woodstove. she'll also be working on her resume and looking for a job that doesn't annoy the shit out of her, and i'll be reading and writing. we'll probably listen to "alice's restaurant" yet again, per tradition.

story #2 turned out to be a bust, but i'm going to attack it again from a different angle, starting tomorrow morning probably. in all likelihood i'll be up and about before kara is. she'll be up to get the dogs out in the morning but then she'll return to bed and i'll probably be awake. i still like the short story ideas i have, and it doesn't really bother me that this attempt failed. it didn't have the energy it needed. i have an inkling of how to go about it differently, and so we'll see.

otherwise there isn't a whole lot going on. next weekend we're going to seattle to see stuart mclean do the "vinyl cafe" live, and we're looking forward to that. it'll be a little canadian experience for us.
